To block Reddit on iPhone, you have to block two things: the Reddit app and reddit.com in your browser. Block only one, and the other becomes the way back in. Here's how to do both, for free with Screen Time or with a block you can't snooze.
The short answer
Open Settings, then Screen Time. Under App Limits, give Reddit a 1-minute daily limit with Block at End of Limit turned on. Then go to Content & Privacy Restrictions, open Web Content, choose Limit Adult Websites, and add reddit.com, www.reddit.com and old.reddit.com to Never Allow. Set a Screen Time passcode, ideally one someone else chooses, so the block holds.
Why blocking only the app doesn't work
Reddit is unusually good in a browser. The full site, the old interface at old.reddit.com, and every comment thread you'd reach from a Google search all work in Safari without the app. So if you delete or limit the app and leave the website open, the habit simply moves one tap over.
The reverse is true too. Block the website but keep the app, and nothing changes. A Reddit block only works when it covers both doors at the same time.
Method 1: Block Reddit with Screen Time (free)
Screen Time is already on your iPhone and can handle both halves. Menu names shift slightly between iOS versions, but the paths below are the same in recent releases.
Step 1: Block the Reddit app
Open Settings and tap Screen Time.
Tap App Limits, then Add Limit.
Open the Social category, select Reddit, and tap Next.
Set the limit to 1 minute, the shortest Screen Time allows.
Turn on Block at End of Limit. This toggle only appears once you've set a Screen Time passcode.
Step 2: Block reddit.com in Safari and other browsers
In Settings, go to Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions, and turn it on.
Tap App Store, Media, Web & Games (called Content Restrictions on older iOS versions), then Web Content.
Choose Limit Adult Websites. This is what unlocks the Never Allow list, and it also filters adult sites as a side effect.
Under Never Allow, tap Add Website and enter reddit.com.
Repeat for www.reddit.com and old.reddit.com, so the old interface isn't left open.
Then test it. Open Safari and try each address, and do the same in any other browser you have installed, such as Chrome or Firefox. If a page still loads, add that exact address to Never Allow.
Step 3: Set a passcode you don't know
Without a Screen Time passcode, the app limit offers Ignore Limit, which lifts the block in a single tap. With a passcode you chose yourself, you'll be able to type it back in whenever the urge hits. The most reliable fix is to have a partner or friend set it. We compare this in more detail in Stryct vs Apple Screen Time.
Method 2: Block Reddit with Stryct
If you'd rather not depend on a passcode, Stryct blocks both the app and the website from one place:
Open Stryct and go to the Blocklist tab.
Under Apps, tap Add App and select Reddit.
Switch to Websites, tap Add Website, and add reddit.com. Add old.reddit.com too, to be safe.
Choose how the block runs: Block Now for a session from 15 minutes up to 30 days, Schedules for recurring hours like evenings, or Daily Ration for a daily budget that locks until midnight once it's used up.
Once a session starts, there's no snooze and no button inside Stryct to end it early, and uninstall protection keeps you from deleting the app mid-session.

How to make the block stick
Clear the shortcuts. Remove Reddit from Safari's Favorites and Frequently Visited, and log out of Reddit in every browser so a blocked tab doesn't nag you to come back.
Watch for the side door. Google results often link to Reddit threads. With reddit.com blocked, those links won't open, so the habit of adding "reddit" to every search fades faster.
Start with a schedule if a full block feels like too much. Blocking Reddit only in the evenings, or during work hours, is easier to keep than a total ban you'll abandon by Thursday.
The Stryct team's take, clearly labeled as opinion
Most Reddit blocks fail because they close one door and leave the other open, or because they can be dismissed in a moment of boredom. Cover both the app and the website, and remove the easy way out. Whether that's a passcode someone else holds or a session that simply runs its course matters less than making sure it isn't a one-tap decision.

Can I block Reddit on iPhone without deleting the app?
Yes. In Settings, then Screen Time, then App Limits, give Reddit a 1-minute daily limit and turn on Block at End of Limit, which requires a Screen Time passcode. The app stays installed but locks after a minute each day. An app blocker like Stryct can also block it for a set session without deleting it.
How do I block reddit.com in Safari on iPhone?
Go to Settings, then Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions. Under Web Content, choose Limit Adult Websites, then add reddit.com, www.reddit.com and old.reddit.com to the Never Allow list. Test each address in Safari and in any other browser you use.
Why can I still open old.reddit.com after blocking Reddit?
Website blocks on iPhone match the addresses you enter, so variants like old.reddit.com can slip through if they aren't on the list. Add each variant you use to Never Allow, then test them one by one in your browser.
Can I block Reddit only at certain times?
Yes. Screen Time's Downtime can block apps on a schedule, though it can be turned off from Settings. In Stryct, Schedules block your blocklist, including Reddit, at the days and times you choose, and Daily Ration gives you a daily budget that locks the app until midnight once it's used up.
