How to block TikTok on iPhone (app and Safari)

To block TikTok on iPhone, block both the TikTok app and tiktok.com in your browser. TikTok's own daily limit won't do it on its own, because it asks for a passcode you chose. Here are three ways to set it up, and which ones actually hold.
The short answer
Open Settings, then Screen Time. Under App Limits, give TikTok a 1-minute daily limit with Block at End of Limit turned on. Then go to Content & Privacy Restrictions, open Web Content, choose Limit Adult Websites, and add tiktok.com, www.tiktok.com and vm.tiktok.com to Never Allow. Set a Screen Time passcode, ideally one someone else chooses, so the block holds.
Why TikTok is so hard to put down
Most apps have natural stopping points: the end of an inbox, the bottom of a page. TikTok's feed doesn't. Videos are short, full-screen and autoplay one after another, so there's never a moment where the app asks whether you want to keep going. Every swipe is a new decision you make in a fraction of a second.
That's why a block works better than a reminder. You don't want to win the decision a hundred times an evening; you want to make it once, earlier, when you're thinking clearly.
Option 1: TikTok's built-in daily limit
TikTok has its own screen time settings, and they're a reasonable first step:
- In TikTok, tap Profile, then the menu icon, then Settings and privacy.
- Tap Screen time, then Daily screen time.
- Pick a daily limit and follow the steps to set a passcode.
The catch is in the last step. When you hit the limit, TikTok lets you keep watching by entering that passcode, and you're the one who picked it. The setting can also be switched off from the same menu at any time. TikTok also offers screen time breaks and sleep reminders, but those are prompts, not blocks. Treat this option as a nudge rather than a lock, and it does nothing for tiktok.com in your browser.
Option 2: Block TikTok with Screen Time (free)
Apple's Screen Time can block both the app and the website. It's the same method we use in our guide to blocking Reddit on iPhone, with TikTok's addresses swapped in.
Step 1: Block the TikTok app
- Open Settings and tap Screen Time.
- Tap App Limits, then Add Limit.
- Open the category TikTok is listed under, usually Entertainment, select TikTok, and tap Next.
- Set the limit to 1 minute, the shortest Screen Time allows.
- Turn on Block at End of Limit. This toggle only appears once you've set a Screen Time passcode.
Step 2: Block tiktok.com in Safari and other browsers
TikTok works in a mobile browser too, so skipping this step leaves the feed one search away.
- In Settings, go to Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions, and turn it on.
- Tap App Store, Media, Web & Games (called Content Restrictions on older iOS versions), then Web Content.
- Choose Limit Adult Websites to unlock the Never Allow list.
- Under Never Allow, add tiktok.com, www.tiktok.com and vm.tiktok.com, the domain TikTok uses for shared links.
Then test each address in Safari and in any other browser you have installed. If something still loads, add that exact address to the list.
Step 3: Set a passcode you don't know
This is the same problem as TikTok's own limit, one level up. A Screen Time passcode you chose yourself is easy to type at midnight. Have a partner or friend set it if you can. We go deeper on this in Stryct vs Apple Screen Time.
Option 3: Block TikTok with Stryct
- Open Stryct and go to the Blocklist tab.
- Under Apps, tap Add App and select TikTok.
- Switch to Websites, tap Add Website, and add tiktok.com. Add vm.tiktok.com too, to be safe.
- Choose how the block runs: Block Now for a session from 15 minutes up to 30 days, Schedules for recurring hours like bedtime, or Daily Ration for a daily budget that locks until midnight once it's used up.
Once a session starts, there's no snooze and no button inside Stryct to end it early, and uninstall protection keeps you from deleting the app mid-session.
| | TikTok's limit | Screen Time | Stryct |
| Cost | Free | Free, built in | $29.99/yr, 3-day free trial |
| Blocks the TikTok app | No, it's a time limit inside the app | Yes, with a 1-minute App Limit | Yes |
| Blocks tiktok.com | No | Yes, with Never Allow | Yes |
| At the limit | Asks for the passcode you set | One More Minute and Ignore Limit, unless you add a passcode | Blocked, no snooze option |
| Ending it early | Your passcode, or turn it off in settings | Your Screen Time passcode | No button or passcode in the app |
How to make the block stick
- Close the side doors. Much of TikTok's content gets reposted as Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. If you block TikTok and find yourself scrolling Reels instead, add those apps to the same blocklist for the same hours.
- Protect the last hour of the day. Late-night scrolling is where TikTok sessions run longest. A schedule that blocks it from an hour before bed is easier to keep than a full ban.
- Turn off TikTok notifications. In Settings, then Notifications, switch TikTok off so the app can't pull you back in between blocks.
The Stryct team's take, clearly labeled as opinion
TikTok's own limit and Screen Time both end the same way: with a passcode you already know. That's fine if a pause is all you need. If you've caught yourself typing the code without thinking, the fix isn't a stronger reminder, it's a block that doesn't ask you to decide again.
Can I block TikTok on iPhone without deleting the app?
Yes. In Settings, then Screen Time, then App Limits, give TikTok a 1-minute daily limit and turn on Block at End of Limit, which requires a Screen Time passcode. The app stays installed but locks after a minute each day. An app blocker like Stryct can also block it for a set session without deleting it.
Does TikTok's daily screen time limit actually block the app?
Not fully. When you reach the limit, TikTok asks for the passcode you created, and entering it lets you keep watching. The setting can also be turned off in Settings and privacy, then Screen time. It works as a reminder, but it won't stop you if you know the code.
How do I block tiktok.com in Safari on iPhone?
Go to Settings, then Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions. Under Web Content, choose Limit Adult Websites, then add tiktok.com, www.tiktok.com and vm.tiktok.com to the Never Allow list. Test each address in Safari and in any other browser you use.
Can I block TikTok only at night?
Yes. Screen Time's Downtime can block apps on a schedule, though it can be turned off from Settings. In Stryct, Schedules block your blocklist, including TikTok, at the days and times you choose, such as every night from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
